A Taste of Berlin

Rachel, Dublin

I want to go back. Right now.  We have returned home to the lashings of rain after a long weekend of beautiful sunshine in Berlin.  But it is not only the good weather that I am missing.  If you are in any way interested in eating and drinking then I recommend getting yourself to Berlin pronto for you will be spoilt for choice and surprised (pleasantly) by the price.  Here is a little sample of our highlights:

Currywurst from Konnopke's Imbiss, Vietnamese fare at Monsieur Vuong's, Ice cream for a hot day, some of the produce on display in the gourmet food hall at KaDeWe, tasty Thai at Lemongrass and 'Spargel' or asparagus which was in season and on menus everywhere, delicious!

Beer, beer and more beer! Oh, and some cocktails too! The boyfriend was interested to discover that the germans appear to have no rules around public drinking and very much enjoyed his 'train beer' on the way home each evening.  We treated ourselves to cocktails with a view of the Brandenburg gate on our last day at the Hotel Adlon, made famous by Michael Jackson when he dangled "Blanket" over the fifth floor railing!
So, how did we work up a thirst/appetite for all the above...?  Why, on a Segway sightseeing tour of course! Check me out below looking decidely unglamorous in a sexy helmet while doing my training with our fantastic guide, Walid.  If you go to Berlin I cannot recommend this tour highly enough, you'll just have to try it for yourself!
