Fabulous Friday: Cocktail Hour

Aoife, Cambridge

Moving house is hard, why did nobody remind me how painful it is? I'm never moving again. Luckily I love my new digs and as I've snaffled the dining room cupboards as my personal domain, I have plenty of room to grow my cocktail collection.

The cocktail glasses are unpacked but most of my belongings are still in boxes and the fridge is lacking any fresh fruit or juice. There was nothing for it but to mix up the ends of some random bottles in the shaker "George's Marvellous Medicine" style and see what happened. Neither of us grew so tall we popped out the chimney but it did give us enough energy to get a few more boxes unpacked. The rosehip syrup gives this a slightly medicinal taste but I'd happily take this medicine any day of the week.

Aoife's marvellous medicine (serves 2)

140mL rhubarb vodka
65mL rosehip syrup
35 mL vanilla vodka
3 drops Péychaud's bitters

Combine all of the ingredients and shake over plenty of ice. Strain into prepared glasses. I got these as a house warming present to myself in the antique shop next to Hot Numbers on Gwydir Street.
