I'm sure you all way ahead of me on this one but last weekend was my first time with Vinho Verde. A Portuguese "green" or young wine, I got to try it as part of a tasting organised by Tom, The Cambridge Wine Blogger. I was really impressed by the fresh, green fruit flavours and the slight fizz added a delightfully enlivening element. I could see this style of wine working perfectly as an aperitif or with seafood. At only 10% alcohol it would be a perfect lunch wine, perhaps on a picnic? In preperation for good enough weather to enjoy some Vinho Verde outdoors, I plan to spend my weekend researching the available offerings in the wine shops of Cambridge. If anybody has any recommendations please let me know in the comments.
Thanks to Tom and Cambridge Wine Merchants, Mill Rd for hosting the tasting.
